Course description The nodes, architecture and procedures of the IMS system are explained in detail. How a single packet network, the IMS, can carry the services voice and data is studied through the course. The protocols used in IMS and the information they carry are studied and explained, with the help of traffic cases, where SIP will be in focus. The session control plane and the media plane in the Internet compared to IMS are explained in details. Security, policy and Quality of Service are discussed.
